The Moody 422, designed by Bill Dixon, is a lovely example of a sailing boat that you can comfortably cruise and live aboard. The traditional Moody design with centre cockpit, makes for enjoyable sailing.

Traditional layout below, forward cabin fitted with two single berths and infill to convert to a double. Hanging locker, good storage below the bunks with cave lockers above. A door to the forward heads gives the cabin an en-suite facility. The forward heads is situated to starboard and is fitted with Jabsco sea toilet, washbasin and shower with pressurised hot and cold water. Second door from heads gives access to the saloon.
U shaped settee to starboard with a single settee/berth to port, central drop leaf table. Storage below seating and cupboards/shelving above. To port and aft of the saloon is a well laid out galley with plenty of preparation area. Double stainless sink with pressurised hot and cold water, coolbox, Nelson 2 burner hob, grill and oven. Large cold box and microwave. Ample storage for supplies and utensils. Opposite the galley is the chart table. All instruments and control panel easily visible and usable from one position.
Aft of the chart table the passage way contains two single berths in a bunk arrangement, and good sized fridge. Doors allow the passage way to be closed off to form a separate cabin. Into the aft cabin with central island double berth, settee to starboard, cupboards and hanging locker to port. A second heads gives this cabin its own facilities, with Jabsco sea toilet, washbasin and shower with pressurised hot and cold water.
Otaki was built in 1987 by Marine Projects Ltd UK to a Bill Dixon design. Bill Dixon had worked alongside Angus Primrose for several years, when, following the loss of Angus Primrose at sea in 1980, Dixon, at the age of 23, found himself running the newly formed Angus S Primrose Ltd.
The new company successfully took on the existing production boat business, which has formed the basis for a continuing expansion to the present day. All the time enhancing its reputation for design innovation with a steady stream of successful production power and sail designs.

GRP hull, deck and superstructure. Fin keel and wheel steering. Non-slip decks and double steel guard wires all round allow for safe movement around the decks. Large deep self draining cockpit. Two large lockers on the transom give plenty of outside storage. Dedicated gas locker to port.
Otaki's auxiliary power is provided by a Perkins 4108 50HP inboard engine. This was reconditioned in 1996, and has been regularly serviced.
Bank of four batteries charged either by shore power or engine. Sterling 240V battery charger and two sinewave inverters, allowing the use of 240V while at sea.
Bermudan sloop rigged yacht, with keel stepped aluminium mast and boom. Stainless steel standing rigging and Terylene running rigging in good order. In mast furling mainsail and roller furling foresail, making this yacht very easy to sail. Vessel comes with spinnaker rigging.
All lines led aft to helm via series of deck organisers and clutches. Lewmar 2 speed self tailing winches.
All sails are said to be in good condition.
