The DeFever 40 is a very untraditional double-cabin trawler with a flat sheer line - something seldom seen in a trawler-style design, and a distinctive low-profile appearance. She was built by CTF in Taiwan on a solid fiberglass hull with hard aft chines and a deep keel for prop protection. Her galley-up floor plan includes a large aft cabin and a somewhat compact main salon. While many boats in this size range have galley-up layouts, few have a galley aft of the salon like the DeFever 40 does. A lower helm was standard and there are port and starboard deck doors in the salon.
