A King-Size bed in the main cabin, and our heads is fitted with an electric toilet and shower as well as a vanity sink. Before you go to bed, watch your favourite film on the 19-inch flat screen digital TV with stereo sound from the JVC DVD/CD/Radio.
You are then ready to set off sailing.
The Cockpit binnacle has all your instruments at hand including a new (2015) 9-inch Hybrid Touch screen plotter and auto-helm. The rear winches are adjacent to the helm for easy single-handed work. Or go exploring rivers (1.5m draft, bilge keel) being sure that the Kiwi folding prop will take you forward and backwards in a straight line with no hassle, and drop anchor easily with our electric windlass.

This keel configuration allows the boats to sit on a mud berth or in tidal harbours and estuaries where the moorings have reduced depth. This keel configuration designed by Hunter Legend has been proven to perform as well as the standard fin keel models.
One of the unique points of the Legend range is its Bilge keel; not many boats of this size
offer this facility. We did the last antifouling in April (2017, see below) and it should last
Designed to eliminate the possibility of injury from the boom or mainsheet and to provide efficient control of the mainsail via a very short mainsheet. In addition they enhance safety further by providing a strong grab handle and anchor points for all of the crew. Furthermore they act as a superb support for all over cockpit enclosures, canopies and biminis.
The Main Cabin has a King-Sized bed which we have fitted a memory foam mattress (The
original is also available if you prefer). It has lots of storage including a cupboard and a
wardrobe. There is a window behind the headboard and a hatch that faces the cockpit. Mains and DC electric points are on both sides of the bed.
The galley is well equipped with two sinks a cooker with oven and grill, and a 50cm fridge with freezer box.
The saloon is both light and large for a boat of this size.
The table slides down to make a double bed and under each seat there is large storage areas. There is a 19-inch flat screen TV with DVD player and a JVC stereo unit with CD/DVD players. You can play your favourite films in the JVC unit and get stereo sound output. On the port-side there is the good sized chart table.
The chart table lifts up to reveal the space to store charts and writing equipment
etc. Under the chart table is a two level cabinet where you can store Almanacs, Pilot Books and manuals.
The main VHF/DSC unit is here. There is a command microphone in the cockpit so calls
can be sent and received in the cockpit. The Multifunction display enables you to
monitor all the other instruments –Log, Depth, Wind and Autohelm.
There is a brass clock, barometer and tide clock on the bulkhead.
DC and AC Switch panels are on the righthand side of this picture.
We have a luxury Electric toilet. No pumping, just press a button and its all discharged into the sea or the waste tank for disposal off shore. Now you can use the loo, even in the marina.
Open the door on the left and you reveal the wet locker with a hanging rail and shelves.
The shower is also in this compartment with a door between it
and the vanity unit.
The vanity unit has a sink, main mirror and shaving mirror. There is storage under the sink and behind the mirror. There is a 12volt Cigar Socket under the mirror and hooks
for towels etc. A toothbrush/toothpaste holder and hot/cold mixer tap completes the facilities.
The forward cabin has fitted sheets and duvet and two wardrobes. It also has its own hatch and a vented wooden “window” between it and the saloon. There are storage spaces under the berth and shelves around it. There are 12v and 240v mains sockets in the berth.
The cockpit has a central binnacle with all the instruments at hand for the person on the helm. The mainsheet traveller is on the overhead gantry so little chance of you being banged on the head.
The chartplotter, log, depth, wind and autohelm instruments are all in easy view. There is also a compass and the engine throttle control.
Crew seats and cup holders make sailing as comfortable as possible.
There are two winches adjacent to the helm so single handed sailing is easy. The Bimini cover protects the helm from the sun or rain.
There is also a central table for that evening meal in the sun.
There is also a huge cockpit locker that can store a tender or fenders and is large enough to stand in.
A new 9 inch Hybrid Touch plotter and digital radar scanner was fitted in April 2015.
There is also a complete Cockpit Enclosure cover, that can be set up in 10 minutes, so you can make the most of the cockpit as another room in the evening.
The Helm seat swivels down to make a walkway to the rear bathing
platform and ladder. There is a cockpit shower and davits for a tender.
On top of the Bimini is the solar panel to achieve maximum wattage.
The outboard engine platform stores your engine.
On the port side there is a locker where combustibles and oils can be stored.
Scallywag has the traditional Hunter Marine Bergstom and Ridder (B&R) rig. This provides the following advantages over other rigs:
1. There is no backstay, the design of a large, easily handled main and a small jib make
sail trimming and handling much easier than the conventional rigs with their large
genoas. This allows for a more efficient mainsail with a larger roach for increased
performance. This means less work for the crew in that the power sail is the main.
2. The strength is increased because the loading on the rig itself is decreased. Less
movement of the rig itself means less fatigue on the rigging which is usually the
primary culprit of failures.
3. The shrouds are led outboard which reduces compression loads to the deck and hull
while allowing tighter sheeting angles on the smaller jib for better windward
performance. With the addition of the mast struts, the point loading at the mast base is
spread among the three points.
4. The mast struts are also useful as hand-rails when working on deck
The boat comes with a Doyle Ribbed Mainsail with 3 reefs and 2 slab reef lines.
The Doyle Furling Genoa is mounted on a Furlex system.
We also have a Cruising Chute with Bespoke “Lady” insignia that we purchased in September 2014. It is Kemp Full Radial Ripstop Nylon with Snuffer. This is offered as a separate - Optional extra for £1,500.
The main electrical system is 12V DC with a shore power facility for 240volts 13A mains
There are two Domestic Batteries (2 x 180AH=360AH) and a separate Starter Battery in the main cockpit locker.
All batteries are connected to a Voltage Sensitive Relay System (VSR). When the engine is started, and the start battery reaches 13.7 Volts, the relay closes, combining the battery banks (start and house) and allowing them to be charged simultaneously.
The Voltage, Amps and Capacity of all batteries can be checked using the BEP monitor.
There is also a Solbian flexible 125watt solar panel connected directly to the batteries with
its own controller.
The 240v 13Amp system is connected to the AC control panel and provides power to the
battery charger, outlets and water heater.
