The King 40 was designed to be a true dual-purpose cruiser/racer, effective at racing offshore and around the cans as well as comfortable enough for basic cruising. The deck plan with twin wheels was developed to allow plenty of room for a racing crew, but there are also comfortable places to sit in cruise mode. The deep 2.5m lead bulb/narrow chord keel and high-aspect rudder provide excellent upwind and downwind performance with a very balanced helm giving an owner driving pleasure first and foremost. The model has notched up many wins on the international racing circuit and continues to be a genuine IRC/ORC and club race winner at the highest level.
'Canute' was first launched in 2010 by her current owners and although she was sailed by an amatuer crew she managed a 3rd on the 2010 Australian IRC championships. She claimed many more wins and good results before the owners stopped using the boat as work committments got in the way. Mostly unused in the last 2 years 'Canute' is now available for a new owner to go and enjoy as she should be.
The inventory includes a Yanmar 30HP sail drive diesel with folding prop, carbon mast and boom, carbon retractable prod and conventional spinnaker pole, a comprehensive sail wardrobe of racing sails, Partial Cat 3 safety gear, B&G hercules instruments with repeaters at the mast, Coursemaster Auto Pilot, 15" chart plotter, electrical refrigeration and all the running rigging to get out and race.
This is a fantastic racer/cruiser option. Contact us for further details.
