IF LOOKING FOR AN AFT COCKPIT NAJAD, HALBERG or MALO THEN CONSIDER 'CASSIS' - The Moody marque is highly regarded. The Moody 379 is not just a Moody yacht...it is a limited custom build Moody Yacht of only 4, designed by German Frers, moulded by Robert Ives Ltd and completed by A.H. Moody at Swanwick, 2 for the UK market and 2 for the French Market. Sensibly priced by experienced yachtsman.
'Cassis', previously known as 'Family Affair' was built for David Moody in 1980 as a family boat to enjoy both cruising and racing.
With a pedigree as described above she is a very special boat. In 1989 Moody Yachts fitted the acclaimed David Thomas 'Delta Wing' keel as seen on the Sigma 36 and in a smaller variant, the Hunter Horizon range. This gave the boat all the sparkling performance one would want whilst enjoying a shoal draft to allow one access most ports. In addition the Delta wing gives a smoother and more sea-kindly motion on passage without stalling at slow speeds.
The Moody 379 has been conceived, as primarily a yacht which will be a pleasure to own and sail.
A yacht equally at home cruising with the family or racing with your friends.
The Moody 379 has a masthead rig of high aspect ratio.
The fo'c's'le is arranged with two single berths with infill to make a double berth with storage below, mattresses, stowage lockers, hatch to deck.
The toilet compartment includes a wash basin, pressurised hot and cold water taps, stowage lockers, fixed window.
Saloon has an 'L' shaped settee to starboard converting to single berth, pilot berth above (Now converted to shelving for books both fiction, fact and pilotage reference) and outboard to starboard, settee berth to port with cocktail cabinet, stowage locker, hanging locker/oilskin locker forward.
Table with folding leaves, opening skylight. Galley is to port, arranged with cooker, ice box, sink complete with hot and cold pressurised taps and an emergency fresh water hand pump, stowage locker.
Aft cabin is separated by a door from the remainder of the accommodation, a large double berth to port, which can be divided into two at sea, and a single berth to starboard, also to starboard is a wardrobe, and there is a dressing table aft, and opening window.
Since my purchase of 'Cassis' in 2003 my wife and I have cruised about two or three months every year from NW Scotland, and the West Coast of Ireland to the Azores and Algarve.
Over the last 16 years many things have been renewed and replaced, or improved. The list is too long for here.
I have set the boat up for off shore, short handed sailing.
I am now seeking a smaller boat for more local cruising.

The pedigree of this boat needs no further endorsement and I have been lucky enough to have met all involved from Designer, Builder, Keel designer and project manager. All respected moderate and sea worldly people.
In addition I have been lucky enough to know the owner and vendor who has been one of the most respected Yacht Delivery Skippers of the very first Yacht Delivery company. Having shipped aboard as a callow youth under this skippers wing over 40 years ago I can vouch for the sensible and seaworthy eye that will have overseen the regular maintenance schedule.
The fact that this boat has been used for family cruising will attest to the fact that the boat will have been kept up to a sound and seaman like condition and of course with a feminine overview to keep all in check, it will be clean and tidy.
