Kadey-Krogen’s most popular model has been the 42, with 206 built over a period of 22 years.(this in #36). Marine engineer Art Kadey and naval architect James S. Krogen designed the 42 for people who prefer timeless to trendy aesthetics, solid comfort to speed, and passage making range to quick shoreline hops. The model’s full-displacement hull has soft bilges, a full keel, a fine entry and a wineglass transom, which reduces the effects of following sea on directional stability.
It's the quintessential trawler: the design is both conservative and handsome, the construction is rugged, and with literally hundreds of storage lockers and drawers, a Krogen 42 can swallow A LOT of stuff without indigestion. She can then carry it, and her owners, thousands of miles in the comfort of their own home. There’s little wonder resale values have been consistently strong on the brokerage market.
New fuel tanks in 1998, rebuilt Webasto hydronic heating system, rebuilt Robertson autopilot, bow thruster, Westerbeke genset, single 120 hp Ford Lehman diesel with hydraulic get-home engine driven off genset--very basically equipped but VERY competitively priced, and one of only a handful currently for sale on the west coast.
