ACCOMMODATIONS & LAYOUT: Beautiful teak and spruce joinery throughout, all doors are beveled and hand fitted, lockers are teak lined and cabin sole is teak and holly plank. The interior is finished with a satin varnish and accents on the trim. Teak doors are louvered. Headroom is 6'4" or better, throughout the boat and storage capacity can only be noted as incredible in a 3-cabin, custom layout. All opening ports and hatches are screened. Sleeps up to 6 people with the forward cabin, main salon and owners cabin, The aft stateroom has a queen berth and loads of storage. The unique forward cabin design is a signature of the Tayana and incorporates large V-berth with filler cushion and seat under, port and starboard shelves, many drawers and a lowboy dresser with mirror over. The forward teak door (carved with the well known Tayana emblem on it) separates the main Saloon from the forward stateroom.
The forward port head is just aft of the V-berth, with pressure hot and cold water, large mirror, shower and generous locker space, with access from both the v-berth and the main cabin. To starboard of the head is a large, full sized hanging or storage locker.
In the main saloon there is a large and comfortable centerline teak table, which seats 6 comfortably, with fiddles for convenience and safety, 2-large fold up leaves and top-access recessed storage. To starboard, you will find 2-custom swivel chairs with drop-down table between and outboard storage cabinets. To port is a good sized settee with extensive storage in the form of shelves, cabinets and lockers. Teak locker doors throughout, are louvered for proper ventilation. The settee provides one comfortable berth.
Aft of the main salon and to starboard is a offshore-safe galley, that will delight the gourmet, whether at sea or dockside, with drawers, extensive louvered lockers, large dry storage bin, microwave cabinet. Pressure and foot pump for water.
The Technautics refrigerator and freezer system are large capacity; the refrigerator box opens from the front and top. There are two deep, center-line stainless steel sinks, a gimbaled 3-burner Force 10 S.S. stove/oven/broiler with custom varnished teak self-stowing cover, generous counter space, overhead cabinets and over/under counter stowage. The galley has 2 opening porfor excellent ventilation.
Directly across from the galley, to port, is a proper offshore, forward-facing navigation station with an exceptional complement of navigation and electronic equipment for easy use while navigating, visible from the cockpit. The large nav table/desk has a generous storage locker under the desk top and room for the additional electronic navigation and communication equipment outboard. Under nav seat is additional storage. Storage locker under nav station holds full-length rolled charts, next to the 4 deep drawers, plus there is a hanging wet locker, immediately aft of the nav seat.
A walk through from the nav station past the accessible engine compartment leads to the aft master stateroom, past a double louvered hanging locker door, 5 solid teak drawers, with additional hinged stowage under and louvered teak doors with large storage, below a shelf-top lowboy. A large storage compartment over the engine room opens into the walk-through passage.
The master stateroom features a huge queen-sized berth which accommodates offshore sleeping no matter which tack the vessel is on.
Opposite the foot of the berth is a large double-door cupboard over the engine space, and to starboard, yet another 2 additional louvered storage lockers over a teak counter with locker under.
Also aft is the owners private head with lockers over the commode and over and under the S.S. sink. The shower stall has been converted to shelfs.
DOG STAR incorporates a high degree of custom furniture and cabinetry. The interior woods are of the finest teaks and spruce, cabin sole is teak and holly in the traditional manner and custom factory interior. Below deck ventilation and light is provided by 10 bronze, screened opening ports, 7 dorade ventilators (with screens) and 4 large opening, screened aluminum hatches. All interior cushions are Sunbrella covers; the settee cushions were reupholstered in 2003.
