ACCOMMODATIONS & LAYOUT:
Jade Dragon is the original name of this regal Vagabond 47 Ketch built at the Bluewater Yachts Boatyard in Taiwan and designed by William Garden in 1986. She has proven her blue water cruising capabilities many times during those years. The owners have sailed her in winds gusting to 50 knots, pushing through high seas and swift currents, and she has never faltered or given reason to feel less than secure. The deck space gives plenty of room to safely run forward and adjust sails or attend to rigging. The center cockpit is spacious with seating for up to 6 people with plenty of room for steering. Engine controls are on the binnacle. Radar controls and chart plotter display is on the bulkhead next to the companionway for easy access and viewing while steering, yet not in your face while sailing at night. The aft deck is large enough to keep a dinette table and chairs while dockside for lounging. There is a walk thru on the aft deck rails to access dinghy. The deck has four large hatches, one forward, two midship, and one aft giving plenty of air flow throughout the cabin.
Access to the cabin is through the companionway located forward center of the cockpit. As you enter the cabin you enter the main saloon. Chart table and nav station is to starboard. Forward of the companionway is a spacious main saloon with three large settees, dinette, and storage console. One settee pulls out to make room for two guests and one other has enough room for a single guest.
Forward of the saloon is a large storage locker to starboard, head with sink and shower to port, and generous V berth forward that includes ample storage. Forward of the V berth is large chain locker with room for more than 800 feet of chain/rode.
Aft of the saloon is the long galley to port with granite countertops, double sink, Nova Kool refrigerator, 4 burner Force 10 stove/oven, and storage pantry. There is enough dry storage space to provision for at least 6 months.
Aft of the saloon to port is a single sea berth with plenty of storage. Engine access is located here with double door entry to engine room. There is also engine access under the galley sink.
The master suite is located aft with a queen sized berth facing forward and aft, plenty of storage with large dry locker and surrounding storage compartments, and a vanity with sink. The two large transom windows give the master suite a romantic glow while sitting at dockside and an exciting viewing post to watch following dolphins and seas while underway. Next to the master suite is a head with sink, separate shower stall, and two large wet lockers. There is access to the head from both the sea berth and the master suite.
All of the teak on deck has been replaced with fiberglass non-skid.
The owners have owned Jade Dragon for almost 14 years as live aboards and part time cruisers. She is a spacious and sturdy cruising yacht that they have felt safe in taking anywhere in any weather. The two owners have been capable of long sailing journeys without additional crew. Sail adjustments are easily done by one person. The owners have performed regular maintenance on all systems and have kept receipts and a log that they are happy to share.
