Prout designs and the aerorig's simple and easy sail plan was ahead of the time and is now being incorporated in recent designs. Don’t let Felix’s age fool you. As a live aboard cat, she has been constantly maintained and upgraded by her meticulous owners "($150,000 in upgrades over the last 5 years). Brand New Bimini Dec 2017
The Aero Rig is a DELIGHT to sail. Felix is an owners edition design, built to the highest standards of construction in Great Britain (using Lloyds of London's remarks), with an amazing rotating mast.
The helms person has remarkable 360 degrees views while sailing, and is always sheltered in the fully enclosed cockpit. The captain is in the same area as guests and crew; not in some exposed and remote location. ONLY ONE CONTROLLING LINE. Tacking and Gybing is fun and easy due to the balanced self tacking rig. The jib has a traveler forward of the mast and requires no adjustments once set. The unstayed mast permits the carbon fiber rig to flex in heavy winds, thus permitting delayed reefing. No strained shrouds & stays to worry about. Coming about is simply a matter of turning the helm. The main sail can be easily trimmed with the self tailing 2 speed winch in the cockpit. The 2014 main sail can be raised or lowered at almost any wind angle, simply by slacking the sheet and letting the rig rotate and flag as the sail is raised or lowered. No need to bring the bow of the boat into the wind. Going down wind is one of the Aerorig's best features. No blanketed and luffing head sail, the jib is always in clean air, no worry of accidental gybing. The mast being forward aids in steering down wind, and reduces load on steering systems.
The huge salon is more like a small condo living room than a boat. 2 state rooms with a sleeping loft. Airy, light, and picturesque views from main salon. 10 opening hatches and 10 opening ports. A gourmet galley to port, spacious main head with shower for two to starboard, are just a few of the highlights.
The NEW 2013, Volvo 55hp engines and sail drives provide ample power, 7+ kts. cruising, and easy maneuverability when docking.
Felix has logged thousands of ocean voyaging miles. She is capable of crossing any ocean with her stout construction and forgiving rig. She’s built to take all conditions and is ready to go anywhere, comfortably.
Everyone is amazed by the openness of Felix! As you step down from the cockpit the first thing you are struck by is the spacious, airy and elegant interior of the main salon.
