Surely this would have to rate as one of the most successful cruising yachts in the world. The Beneteau Oceanis 411 has found more homes around the world than any other Beneteau. It has been popular as a private yacht and in charter fleets. It has stood the test of time and is still sought after on the second-hand market. First launched in 1996, the Oceanis 411 Clipper is a good-looking yacht with a long waterline and a well-proportioned deck.
Papillon was purchased new by Jonathan Walsh in 2001. He put her in a boutique charter company in Greece for only two seasons, and completed the ARC rally in 2006. Jonathan shipped Papillon back to the UK, and used her for private holiday cruising in the UK and the Mediterannean from 2007 - 2018. He completed a major retrofit in 2012 when he modernized the navigation equipment, and again in 2014/15, adding CopperCoat antifouling and replacing the standing rigging. The current owners bought her in Greece in early 2019 and lived aboard, and completed a tour of the Mediterranean and an Atlantic Crossing within the year.
Papillon is set up for extended cruising without compromising on comfort. She has a comfortable 3-cabin, 2-head layout with a unique forward owners' cabin which enjoys generous space, headroom, closets and a large forward head. She has been lovingly maintained, the second owners having been living aboard for the last 9 months and they have made many upgrades in 2019, including wifi-enabled AIS, additional solar panels, new Ramarine VHF radio, new running rigging components, new manual toilet pump and new sanitary hoses in both heads, new 2.3m inflatable dinghy.
In November 2019, the engine was maintained by Volvo mechanics;the rigging was inspected;and new and recertified safety equipment including life raft, flares, fire extinguishers, danbouy, lifejackets and more, were added. Papillon enjoys energy independence with 500 W of solar panels and comes with numerous tools, spare parts, and accessories, including Beneteau dishes, flatware, crockery, kitchen utensils, mugs and cups; mattress toppers in all three cabins and some bedding and linens.
