ADMIRAL 85 CHALLENGER Year 2004.
Admiral Challenger 85 is the first completely open Admiral yacht, made for high speeds. Made in aluminium alloy, it is designed to achieve a fit compromise between speed, reliability and comfort. Powered with water-jet propellers, it reaches about 40 knots at top speed and 35 cruising speed, but still having Admiral’s family line. Studio Bacigalupo penned the V-shaped hydroplane hull, whereas the exterior lines are by Luca Dini Design and CNL Style Dept. Worthy of note: the opening of the hard top, together with the two side doors, by means of an electric system designed and built by the shipyard, that permits a maximum opening. Another innovation is a sophisticated and exclusive “remote control” system that allows all of the systems on board – alarm, lighting and cameras – to be remote controlled by simply using the handheld computer with GSM card. Interiors are a reflection of the Owner’s style. The yacht was modelled on the needs of the owner who wants to find all of his habits and hobbies on board, even during brief holidays. The art of receiving guests can be traced as you enter the main lounge, which is embellished with two large sofas, and the professional Hi-Fi system and console, which are expertly concealed in a piece of furniture behind one of the two sofas. A table with telescopic support was designed for lunches with a few friends. If lowered, it creates another conversation corner. The type of wood used for the furniture is the “santos” rosewood, alternated in large parts with leather both midnight blue and dark brown in colour. The walls and bulkheads both main and below deck are enamelled in the shade of ivory and embellished with horizontal rosewood joints. The ceiling is made in square brown panels with a mirror enamel finish. The use of carpets of two different shades of blue characterise the two bridges. The lounge boasts a sporty pilot bridge covered with dark brown leather. The lower deck is reached by a stairway with brown leather steps outlined in rosewood. Here there is another conversation and music enjoyment corner, with a PlayStation and a professional Hi-Fi system here as well, which is connected to the one on the upper deck. LCD TVs are in both lounges. The yacht was designed to accommodate 8 people: the Owner’s cabin with double bed and two guest cabins, each with two single beds, whereas the crew’s quarters consist of 2 beds. All cabins are complete with their own bathrooms minimal style, with an exposed wash basis and wall-mounted taps and fittings. A “tatami” replaces the classic grating inside the showers. All of the rooms have the same “leit-motiv” as far as the colours are concerned, which are midnight blue, dark brown and pearl grey, played down by the bright colours of the throw pillows. Outside we find a large forward sundeck and a cockpit complete with sofas, table adjustable in both height and width, and a mobile bar complete with icemaker and refrigerator. Two side stairways connect the cockpit to the after deck, inside of which a bathing ladder with electro hydraulic motion is installed.
