A full keel 36' blue water yacht of classic proportion, and timeless design by William Atkin. The hull and deck were delivered from Cecil Lange in 1998 to Alfred Mattheis in New Hartford, CT where it was completed in 2004. The present owner purchased the vessel there after sea trials and trucked it to Maine where she is currently stored inside 7 months a year.
Galatea is a tall rig, properly ballasted with graceful sea-kindly lines that make for quick and comfortable blue water passages and cruiser friendly sailing between the islands and harbors.
Below she is finished Herreshoff-style by first rate New England shipwrights. The teak sole and trim are highlighted by white panels and natural cedar ceiling in the forward cabin. Hull and decks are fiberglass. A large skylight and 10 bronze ports give the vessel an elegance and sea-kindly functionality that you wont want to leave.
Detachable Monitor wind vane steering for the open ocean. 175 hrs on the naturally aspirated Yanmar diesel.
