This latest design was made specifically for easier sailing by a crew with modest experience, with particular reference to the charter market and those who sail only occasionally. With the new rig being 3m shorter than the original design and 60cm narrower in the beam, the boat can be sailed comfortably and safely by two persons.
Despite these modifications, the design caters for those who like to mix some racing with their cruising. The hull design is sleek with very little rocker so it doesn't drag water. Because of the impact on the buoyancy of the hull design, weight is a key factor but despite some material modifications to the original design for strength and durability, the Andaman Cabriolet still weighs in at just 3,000Kgs lightships (racing trim).
Another special feature of the boat is its retractable saloon roof. The Andaman Cabriolet's wide open, spacious saloon and cockpit gives the option of sailing 'al fresco' for all on board, without crowding in the cockpit area or being cut off in the saloon from the action.
At the same time, the saloon can be sealed off from the elements with the retractable saloon roof and side screens, perfect for those times when you have extra guests on board using the drop down saloon table/extra berth configuration.
The vessel has recently undergone extensive refitting, including a rebuild of both motors and a full paint job. With this refit and the recent price reduction (March 2018), it makes her an extraordinary value. It won’t be on the market long, so inquire for more information and schedule a time to take a look. BOAT IS LOCATED IN: Phuket, Thailand
The Andaman Cabriolet can comfortably accommodate a family of 3 in each hull in 1 double and 1 single berth per side. Each berth has two hatches, natural airflow ventilation and fans. Alternatively, the forward singles can be isolated from the rest of the hull (accessed through the deck hatches) and used as crew accommodation, transforming each hull into a self-contained, private en suite double berth, ideal for high end charter use.
The saloon is very spacious, with hand-crafted dining table, “cabriolet” opening roof above and 4 fully-opening hatches letting the cooling breezes flow through, makes for the perfect refuge from the sun and comfortably seats 6-8 people for dinner.
Re-locate the dining table to the cockpit (the table locates securely so won’t slide around) and the saloon seating converts into a large day bed and perfect for relaxing without going below to the cabins. And if you’re 8 people aboard, the saloon seating easily converts into a large double berth without disturbing the al fresco dining in the cockpit.
Galley is well-equipped and adjacent to the saloon seating, not tucked away in down one of the hulls. So, if you’re preparing drinks or a meal, you stay up in the spacious saloon and don’t have to miss out on anything. A two-burner stove, mini-grill, stainless steel sink with hot water and spacious refrigerator comprise the galley equipment, while a “lazy Susan” storage carousel makes it easy to access everything stored in the cupboards.
Each hull has its own hot-water shower room, electric toilet with Saniloo waste water treatment system and opening side port. Doorways can be closed with Sunbrella zip screens or solid doors. Adjacent to the shower entrance is a dress/shirt hanging locker and for those evenings when you want to dress up.
Spacious cockpit with generous awning, Tiller steering on both sides, and the main traveler track above on the saloon roof, leave the cockpit clear and spacious, whether using it for dining or just sitting around while cruising. Cushioned seating over the engine housings, at both helm stations and around the transom is more than enough for everyone to sit in comfort, while the walk-thru transom on both sides makes boarding trouble-free. On the foredeck, the anchor chain runs below and stays out of the way, making for a clean and uncluttered fore deck.
Unique to the Andaman Cabriolet is the ample garbage storage system which means “dry” garbage is neatly stored out of sight and out of the way in sealed bags and ready to take ashore in tailor-made dry bags at the end of several days cruising. The cockpit seats 8 people for lunch or dinner and has 2 large ice boxes to make sure the beers are cold and the ice is ready for your cocktails.
Niña's unique Cabriolet retractable roof in saloon-galley. Portable dining table for use in either saloon or cockpit. Eco friendly design with treatment systems fitted to toilets. Solar power run refrigerator and lighting.
