Introducing Sweet Spot, a 2009 Maine Cat P-47 built in Bremen, Maine. The current owners commissioned her new in 2009 and had extras added throughout the build. Then in 2015 they moved to the Pacific Northwest and shipped Sweet Spot with them. The owner’s health forces the sale.
Stepping aboard Sweet Spot is an ease from the port or starboard aft boarding platforms that are at the same height as the floating dock. Sweet Spot is an incredibly stable and efficient power catamaran with her 18’ Beam, excellent bridge deck clearance and low center of gravity. The Maine Cat P-47 features lightweight composite ‘Core-Cell’ cored structures, with no embedded wood in the fiberglass which produces composite structures (hull, deck, house and interior) that are stronger and lighter than conventional fiberglass construction. The bows are both reinforced with Kevlar and have bow bulbs for greater efficiency underway. The large open foredeck, wide side decks and aft deck are all well protected by stout, stainless-steel handrails which the current owners raised to 38” (from 30”) and extended by 20” at the starboard and port quarters. On the bow is a custom Ideal Windlass with two wildcats, and salt and fresh water washdown hoses. On the aft deck is a Vitrifrigo Ice Maker, Fresh Water Sink, Propane BBQ, Spendide Washer and Dryer Combination Unit, storage for fishing poles, gear and lots of storage in the cabinets. The aft deck is roomy with easy access to the engine rooms which are located under large flush deck hatches.
Both Engine Room’s house Volvo D3-110’s (110HP) that push Sweet Spot along at 10knots burning 1.6GPH with a range of 1800nm. For AC power underway a 5KW Northern Lights Generator is fixed in the port engine room. Sweet Spot also features a Reverso Fuel Polishing System and Reverso Oil Changing System, Engine Monitoring Systems, 40GPH Watermaker, Victron Energy 2500kw Inverter and 100A Battery Charger and more (see Spec’s for list).
Stepping through the aft deck entrance door takes you into the “Great Room” that houses the L-shaped Galley to Port with a Force 10 3-Burner Propane Stove and Oven, Sea Freeze Refrigerator and Freezer, Double Stainless Steel Sink with Pressure Hot and Cold Water, SeaGull Water Filter System, and Granicoat countertops with Cherry Cabinetry, paneled doors and hardwood frames. Immediately to Starboard upon entering the “Great Room” is the Electrical Panel, Stereo, cabinet storage and a step up (custom for Sweet Spot) to the Settee and Table with a great view of the water and outside. The table opens for larger gatherings and also drops to make a comfortable double berth. Throughout the entire “Great Room” there are large windows providing excellent visibility from everywhere in the cabin especially from Helm Station Area. Looking up there are two opening hatches above the Galley and Salon and Forward over the Helm Station is an extra-large Hollandia Marine SR1 Sun Roof (80”x67”), opening up the ceiling to the sky for the Skipper. When the sun is down the interior is illuminated with Portland PowerLED light’s. Other systems onboard Sweet Spot include: Marine Deck 2000, a shock absorbing, anti-fatigue, subflooring beneath the Cabin Sole, ITR Hydronic Central Heating System and DRYZONE Central Dehumidification System (see Spec’s List for more).
Forward is a large Helm Station with a comfortable Companion Seat. There is a clear view out of the 3 extra-large windows forward (both side windows open at the bottom) and both stern quarters can be easily seen from the Helm Seat for ease in docking. The Electronics onboard include a Garmin GPSmap 7215 and Garmin GPSmap 5215 that link to Engine Monitoring Systems, AIS, Weather & Wind, FLIR (Forward Looking Sonar), Coursemaster AutoPilot, Garmin HD RADAR and more (see Spec’s for full list). With the twin engines, Sweet Spot is easy to maneuver and because she can turn in her own length she gets in and out of tight spaces with ease. She’s a joy to operate.
The Master Stateroom is located to starboard down the companionway steps and forward. The Master Stateroom is very spacious with a walk around Queen Berth that was extended to 66” wide by the current owners (from 60” x 78”). There are four deep drawers under the berth, storage cabinets on both sides of the berth and a massive hanging locker forward. There are multiple opening ports and a hatch in both staterooms as well as heater controls. The Guest Stateroom on Port is nearly identical to the Master with a Full Bed and lots of storage in the Cherry Cabinets and a hanging locker. Both Staterooms have private heads with a full Shower Stall, Granicoat vanity countertops and Tecma Freshwater Heads.
