OWNER'S COMMENTS
“I purchased ‘Tianelle’ in May 2015, then after a year in the Caribbean to get used to the boat, I undertook a full refit at the end of 2016 that was undertaken in Antigua by Vortec Marine of Southampton. After many months of wonderful relaxed, tropical sailing, she is now ashore in Rhode Island, USA, where ‘Tianelle’ is ready to go for her next lucky owners.
In addition to benefitting from the well documented sailing capabilities of the 575, we have found ‘Tianelle’ to be extremely practical and easy to live with. A great example is the multiple hullports and portlights that provide excellent through ventilation in port in all but bad weather, and as a result we have found that we have needed to use the air-conditioning units much less than with fixed windows, minimizing the need to run the generator. The twin-wheel through cockpit provides great inboard access to the helm positions at sea, whilst really opening the space up for entertaining in port. We always put a small safety strap across the outboard of the helm position between the seat and the binnacle for added security at sea.
I carry out the routine maintenance according to the recommended schedule and have had the boat professionally maintained when necessary. In addition for much of the time I have owned her, I have had paid crew, who have assisted me with the maintenance and continuous cosmetic care.
We have thoroughly enjoyed our four plus years with ‘Tianelle’ but sadly we must part company as we are now proud grandparents – with two arriving in the last two years!”
The items in italic highlight the non-standard items fitted during the build programme or added by the owner thereafter.
CONSTRUCTION
HULL NUMBER
Oyster 575/14.
HULL CONSTRUCTION
The hull is a composite construction, moulded using a combination of vinylester and polyester resin with the outer topside finish in a white NPG gelcoat. Laminate material comprises a combination of E-Glass, Kevlar and carbon fibre specially designed for the yacht. Topside laminate incorporates a high-tech, balsa-cored, E-Glass/carbon sandwich above the waterline. Below the waterline, the hull features a monolithic (single-skin) composite laminate with an Aramid/Kevlar layer, reinforced with a matrix of stringers and floors. Combined with BS1088 standard marine-ply structural bulkheads, this produces a robust structure with excellent strength to weight qualities. Additional reinforcements are included in the way of the keel recess, keel longitudinals, mast bulkhead, P-bracket, forestay and hull stringers. Limber holes and/or tubes are installed at appropriate points. Stringers, bulkhead landings and floors are formed over non-structural, inert, polyurethane foam.
HULL FINISH
White hull with cove line and double boot top lines in standard Oyster blue. (Hull antifoul removed and Coppercoat antifoul applied – October 2016 by Vortec UK whilst in Antigua.)
