The HammerCat 42 Sail is a unique concept as a weekend performance catamaran.
Steering and sail handling is handled from a central steering pod in the center of the yacht, with excellent 360 degree view. This open floor plan gives access to the cabins, aft deck and galley.
Below decks the HammerCat 42 features a 2 cabin lay out, with 2 identical cabins on the port and starboard side. Both cabins have separate ensuite toilet and stall showers.
The galley is starboard aft and port aft we have a large toy-room with direct access to the aft deck, a unique place for loading / unloading surfboards / kites.
The back area of the transom (vertical part) folds down /out to create a (horizontal) swim platform. While underway the transom is in ‘up’ position, thus offering protecting from the elements and securing the aft section of the deck.
The central platform can drop to below waterline for scuba diving and for floating the tender onto its removable chocks before lifting the platform and tender to clear the bridge deck.
Up forward - sail controls are all at the mast base, so one person can comfortably sail the boat all by himself. Access to the fore-deck is via two steps each side of the steering wheel. Normally the front of the sailing cockpit would be open to the elements but can easily be closed off with window panels which slide out of pockets underneath the hardtop to fold down and can be locked down to make the front waterproof
The boat is foil assisted - not to fly, but to reduce displacement by about 25%, depending on boat-speed. The objective is to put the boat into a slight bow up attitude, especially when going fast downwind with the asymmetrical kite up. The rudder is housed in a cassette within a cassette, which will allow the assembly to kick up on impact with a floating object. The rudder blade is entirely retractable allowing the boat to be beached.
Propulsion is via two retractable outboard motors (15 -20 hp each), which are accessible from the cockpit when in the raised position.
Standard equipment includes Carbon mast, boom and foils.
The HammerCat 42 Sail is a semi-custom yacht and can be build to suit your needs with Lithium batteries / inverter / air conditioning.
